What I'm Listening to: Podcast Edition
Podcasts are a lot like cats. Some people love 'em, some people hate 'em and some people just don’t understand 'em. Personally, I hate cats, but goddamn I love podcasts. Serial was my first introduction into the world of podcasts and I like to call that one my gateway drug… it led me to several other well-known series including 99% Invisible, This American Life and Freakonomics. After binge-listening to those (mostly while at work) I started to dabble more into lifestyle and wellness ones, which is what I'm currently super into.
So if you are looking for some new (or just more) podcasts to add to your list, here are some that come highly recommended from yours truly, in no particular order:
IGNTD This is hosted by Sophie Jaffe (founder of Philosophie) and her husband, Dr. Adi. Along with their guests, they talk very frankly and candidly about topics like drugs, addiction, sex, cheating, spirituality, nutrition and success. They both have very interesting viewpoints and I appreciate how open they are about sharing aspects of their lives.
Almost 30 Krista Williams and Lindsey Simcik talk about health & wellness, spirituality, self-development and entrepreneurship. I always feel super motivated and uplifted after each episode, and really I just want to be friends with these girls. If you are looking for something informative and positive, this is a fan-fav for sure.
The Ladygang The gang features three celebrities that I honestly did not/still don’t really know who they are - Keltie Knight, Jac Vanek and Becca Tobin (are these people famous?). But despite not being in-the-know, the ladies have good chemistry and this is a fun one to listen to when you’re working on other things since the episodes are very light and conversational.
11:11 Hosted by super model and actress, Rachel Hunter, and best selling author and activist, Emma Mildon, 11:11 is all about adding some magic to your life (and we all need some more of that). My fav episode so far has been "How to Own Your Emotional Warrior" with Cheryl Strayed, author of Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, who explains her process through grief, endings, loss, heartache and seeking light even in dark times.
Ladies Who Lunch One of my favorite Youtubers, Ingrid Nilsen, hosts this one along with another Youtuber, Cat Valdes. This one has actually ended (bummer!), but there are plenty of episodes to listen to about sex, relationships, social phobias and other fun stuff.
That’s so Retrograde Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari, aka the "Ab Fab of the new age," blend together pop culture and wellness into one amazing podcast. This is all about mindfulness and seeking authenticity in today's society.
The Life Stylist I was recently introduced to this one by my best friend and her husband, and after binge listening the past couple of weeks I am officially a Life Stylist groupie and have developed a MAJOR crush on host, Luke Storey. Be forewarned though, while this is a verrry informative podcast with verrry knowledgeable guests, sometimes it can almost be information overload. Listen at your own risk- but do listen! You'll learn some really cool stuff about bio-hacking, orgasmic mediation, bulletproof coffee and so much more.
Soul on Fire! If you have ever read The Balance Blonde or follow blogger Jordan Younger on Instagram, then you already know what’s up. Her podcast is very similar in terms of themes and topics to her blog – she covers things like blogging, health and wellness, nutrition, friendship and how to keep passion alive. This is a newer one to join my list, but so far I'm very into it.
Glowing Up Oh my gosh, girl duo Esther and Caroline are hilarious! They talk about all things beauty, health, girly and glowy and are so not afraid to really go there (i.e. these episodes are not filtered). I have literally laughed out loud in my office listening to these two.
The Goode Vibes Tribe (sorry, not sorry) I can’t do a list of favorite podcasts and not give a plug for my own, right? One of my best friends, Emily, and I started a podcast and you should totally check it out if you haven’t already. It’s mostly random chit-chat about life, dating, millennial stuff and more with a splash of positivity thrown in. If you like it, please be sure to tell your friends, leave us a review on iTunes and just send some good vibes our way. Please and thank you.
Alright, so I showed you mine and now I want to see yours! Please leave all you favorite podcasts in the comments below. I'm always searching for new ones to check out.
