10 Date Night Ideas

Date night is fun, but sometimes I think we all get stuck in a rut and end up doing the same things. I’m right there with ya. If you ask my boyfriend, he’ll probably tell you that our sushi ritual never gets old to me, but I do like to switch things up sometimes (plus, I’m pretty sure mercury poisoning is like a real thing).

On nights when we don’t do sushi, these are some of my favorite date night activities…

  1. The classic dinner date. Eating together is always a fun (and easy) option. Check out a new restaurant in your city, or one that is new to you. I like to keep a list on my phone so I always have a few ideas on hand.

  2. Take a cooking class together. I haven’t actually done this one (yet), but we did sign up for a class and I already know it’ll be fun. Cooking together and enjoying a bottle of wine, what’s not to like?

  3. Attend a sports event. I’m not really a big sports person per se, but I always think it’s fun to go to a basketball, baseball or hockey game and get drinks and hang out together.

  4. Go to a concert or live show. Live music or a comedy show are classic date night options. Drinking, dancing, laughing… all ingredients for a solid night out.

  5. Plan a game night at home. Sometimes I just want to stay in after a long week or if the weather is crummy. Plus, I think we sometimes forget how much fun game night can be. Get a group together, or just your boyfriend/girlfriend, make snacks, grab some drinks and you’re ready to go. Some of my fav games are Blokus, Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity and Clue.

  6. Book an appointment for a couple’s massage. If you want to enjoy a relaxing activity together, consider booking an appointment for a couple’s massage at a spa (also makes a great gift!). A lot of them come with champagne and you may have access to the spa’s facility before/after. What’s better than some self care time with your boo?

  7. Check out a local event. I’m on some email lists for local events and the ones I’ve been have all been fun. Things like the stock show/rodeo, beer festivals, music showcases, foodie events, etc. are all cool ways to try new things and mix up your date nights.

  8. Find a bar that hosts trivia. Maybe I’m a bit of a nerd or maybe I’m just competitive, but I love going to trivia. Most areas have trivia pretty much every night of the week at different bars and restaurants. I’ve gone as a couple or have made it a double/group date.

  9. Go to the museum. Wandering around an art museum, exploring the planetarium or seeing a new exhibit are all fun night (or day) date activities.

  10. Make picnic or cook for each other (or cook together). Going out to eat is always fun, but it can be nice to do it yourself, too. If it’s warm out, consider making (or picking up stuff) for a picnic. Staying at home and cooking for your significant other, or planning to cook together, is also fun. I know I’m not the only one with a Pinterest board full of recipes I’ve been wanting to try.
